Note: These are simply quick thoughts that have been jotted down. They have been categorized as “Insignificant” for very good reasons. They may contain hunches which will be unsubstantiated, unqualified and unquantified. Some of these points (each separated into their own paragraphs) may or may not be spawned into more substantial posts.

Facebook Causes depression?

They say Facebook causes depression. For me, it’s probably not the “Comparing yourself with others” / FOMO trigger that I keep seeing exhorted in the media (in the lightest way possible, that aspect of Facebook has probably had the opposite effect), what has perhaps “dampened my mood” is seeing the world’s masses getting deeply hooked and dare I say addicted to the platform owned by a corporate juggernaut (which we are collectively responsible for becoming a juggernaut, by virtue of joining the platform and getting our friends to join by virtue of the network effect) intent on eating up the entire Internet and irreversibly integrating itself into many people’s lives. I really struggle to see this as a good thing for us collectively in the longer run.

I’ve referred to Facebook as “Face-borg” for this reason. It really is the Web version of Startrek’s, Borg collective relentlessly assimilating everything in it’s path.

Lost ability to access Recovery menu on Android

Forgotten how to factory reset an Xperia Android (without having to use the GUI menu). This is for both the Acro S and Z2 models. I recall there was a very simple combination of power and volume up/down(?) keys you had to press, but no combination seems to works for me any more.

SWAZI Apparel

About 5 years ago, SWAZI was barely known about, at least among the Aucklanders. Recently, it seems an increasing number of people have suddenly started asking me about this Brand.

I was originally recommended this brand due to me becoming frustrated with quality of more recently purchased Kathmandu gear at the time (Around 2011).

From my own experience, the SWAZI garments do last a lot longer, the stitching I found has been better, as in, the threading doesn’t start coming lose as easily only after a couple of uses as what has tended to happen with much of my Kathmandu, Ridgeline and Stoney Creek gear.

The Fabric that SWAZI has selected seems a lot more durable overall as well, particularly if you have to bash through the bush… The Ridgeline Bush shirt just fell to bits and became holey, where as the SWAZI equivalent held up far better in the same circumstances.

What I have found is that after a while, the poly fleece Fabric does color fade quite quickly though where as the RIdgeline and H&F equivalents haven’t faded so fast.
